2023 International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP)

18-20 November 2023, Singapore

About the Conference

The International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP) is the flagship conference of the Chinese and Oriental Languages Information Processing Society (COLIPS). It is a series of conferences with a unique focus on Asian Language Processing. The conference aims to advance the science and technology of all the aspects of Asian Language Processing by providing a forum for researchers in the different fields of language study to meet. IALP conference series has a long history, which dates back to its first event ICCC in 1986. Over the decades, the IALP conference has developed into one of the important conferences on Language Processing conference in Asia. Since 2008, IALP has travelled to many Asian cities including Chiang Mai (2008), Singapore (2009), Harbin (2010), Penang (2011), Hanoi (2012), Urumqi (2013), Kuching (2014), Suzhou (2015), Tainan(2016), Singapore(2017), Bandung(2018), Shanghai(2019), Kuala Lumpur (2020, online), Singapore (2021, online), and Shenzhen (2022). It has greatly helped to promote the research of Asian Language Processing in the region. COLIPS has been in collaboration with IEEE in the organization of the conferences. IEEE Singapore and other local chapters have served as technical co-sponsors. The proceedings have been published by IEEE since 2009.

IALP 2023 is held on 18-20 Nov 2022 in Singapore. The event is organized by Chinese and Oriental Languages Information Processing Society (COLIPS) and Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association (PREMIA), Singapore. The event is technically sponsored by IEEE Singapore SMC Chapter. The topics of the conference cover all aspects of Asian Language Processing, including, but not limited to natural language processing, spoken language processing, linguistics, language education, etc.

About COLIPS

The Chinese and Oriental Languages Information Processing Society (COLIPS) is a non-profit professional organisation that was established in 1988 to advance the research of computer processing of Chinese and other Asian languages. It promotes the free exchange of information about information processing of these languages in the best scientific and professional tradition. COLIPS organizes international conferences, short courses and seminars for members and the public. Having its members from all over the world, COLIPS is based in Singapore.

COLIPS is one of the founding members of Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP). Its flagship conference, International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP), is held annually. COLIPS publishes the International Journal of Asian Languages Processing (IJALP) in partnership with World Scientific.

COLIPS is the organizer of many international conferences in Singapore, that include some large scale ones, such as the 2023 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP 2023), the 47th International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP 2022), 2019 IEEE Automatic Speech Recognition Workshop (ASRU 2019), INTERSPEECH: The 15th Annual Conference of the International Speech Communication Association (Interspeech 2014), the Joint Conference of the 47th Annual Meeting of the ACL and the 4th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing of the AFNLP (ACL-IJCNLP 2009), etc.
