Call for Papers

Introduction

The Chinese Lexical Semantic Workshop (CLSW) is jointly initiated by Professor Chin-Chuan Cheng, Academician of Academia Sinica and Chair Professor of the University of Illinois, Professor Shiwen Yu of Peking University, and Professor Chu-ren Huang, Chair Professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000. Since then, it has been held in various cities, including Hong Kong, Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Xiamen, Hsinchu, Yantai, Suzhou, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Macau, Leshan, Chiayi, Nanjing, and Fuzhou.

CLSW is a significant academic conference in the field of Chinese lexical semantics and related disciplines, such as theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, computational linguistics, computational lexicography, computational lexicology, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. Over the years, CLSW has gained widespread influence. In the current landscape, where large language models and semantic computation dominate research and social attention, Chinese lexical semantics research offers cross-disciplinary perspectives that enrich generative AI with linguistic knowledge and cultural connotations.

The 26th International Workshop on Chinese Lexical Semantics will be held on July 11-13, 2025, in Hohhot, China, hosted by Inner Mongolia University and organized by its College of Literature and Journalism and the Chinese Minority Language Terminology Application Research Base. The organizing committee warmly invites researchers to contribute their work to the conference.

Conference Topics

This year’s workshop focuses on the research theme of Chinese Lexical Semantics and welcomes submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Studies on Chinese Lexical Semantics Ontology (e.g., issues in modern Chinese lexicon and semantics)
  • Applications of Chinese Lexical Semantics (e.g., Chinese language education, language planning, linguistic services, lexicography, terminology studies)
  • Resource Development and Methodologies for Chinese Lexical Semantics (e.g., constructing various lexical-semantic corpora for Chinese, theories and practices of semantic annotation)
  • Computational Approaches and Applications of Chinese Lexical Semantics
  • Interdisciplinary Research and Applications of Chinese Lexical Semantics (e.g., artificial intelligence, digital humanities, psycholinguistics, cultural anthropology)
