ISCSLP 2006 News Letter  #3 

1) ISCSLP 2006 Organizing Committee met on May 17, 2006 in Toulouse. It was attended by Qiang Huo (HK), Helen Meng (HK),Tan Lee (Invited, HK), Brian Mak (Invited, HK), M.H. Siu (Invited, HK),Chin-Hui Lee (US), Hsin-Min Wang (TW), Jen-Tzung Chien (Invited, TW), Haizhou Li (SIN), Bin Ma (SIN), Tong Rong (Invited, SIN), Hui Jiang (Invited, US), Jian Yu (on behalf of Jianhua Tao) and chaired by Haizhou Li. The meeting deliberated on issues regarding plenary and tutorial speeches, paper review process, special sessions and workshops, conference registration fee.

2) ISCSLP 2006 is glad to include a workshop "Human emotions in voice and the body: Approaches from the affective sciences and virtual reality" on Dec 14-15, 2006, chaired by Prof. Klaus R. Scherer, Director of Swiss Center for Affective Sciences, University of Geneva, Switzerland.

3) ISCSLP 2006 is glad to have invited Prof. Klaus Scherer of University of Geneva to deliver a plenary speech.

4) Chinese Corpus Consortium (CCC) offers free licenses of development and evaluation corpora to CSLP-SRE benchmarking participants in support of ISCSLP 2006.

5) The ISCSLP 2006 Hong Kong Student Grant is sponsored by the SIG-CLSP-HK. The funds originate from the Organizing Committee of ISCSLP 2004 held in Hong Kong. The student grant aims to encourage and sponsor Hong Kong students who work in the areas of spoken language processing to participate into the forthcoming ISCSLP 2006. This is a cash grant, with a fixed dollar amount. Candidates must be pursuing a postgraduate degree at any of the universities in Hong Kong. A written application should be sent, with the recommendation of the student's thesis supervisor, to Prof. P.C. Ching, Chaiman of the ISCSLP 2004 Organizing Committee (pcching@ee.cuhk.edu.hk).

6) ISCSLP 2006 technical programme committee announces guidelines for selection of best student papers. Details can be found on the conference web.

7) ISCSLP 2006 technical programme committee will invite selected authors to submit full papers for a special issue in the Journal of Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing.

8) ISCSLP 2006 will publish its proceedings in two volumes, papers for oral presentation will be included in the Springer LNAI volume while those for poster presentation will be in a companion volume.

9) ISCSLP 2006 adopts the START Conference Manager for on-line paper submission and review, which was launched on April 18, 2006. However, papers for special sessions will be submitted to the special session chairs directly.
